Athens &ndas h; The Freedom Flotilla 2 Steering Committee met in Athens 9 and 10 April t o continue preparations for the upcoming flotilla. Since the last meeting i n Amsterdam, Israel has launched an international campaign of incitement ag ainst the Flotilla and its coalition members who are participating from aro und the world.

The Greek Ship to Gaza hosted this internationa l meeting and emphasized that the Greek government has failed until now to pressure Israel to release the two Greek boats hijacked from international waters and held in Israel since 31st May 2010. The Greek Ship to Gaza has c omplied with all of the roadblocks put into place by Israel in order to bri ng back its ships, but our efforts have been to no avail. The Greek governm ent should have pressured Israel to release immediately the ships, as Israe l did for the Turkish ships in August, 2010.

Now, on the eve o f the second Freedom Flotilla 2 voyage, the Israeli government is threateni ng to attack us again. As occurred last year before the first Freedom Floti lla, Israeli leaders are busy developing an atmosphere of hostility that sh ould leave no doubt as to their intentions if and when they illegally attac k this civilian flotilla.

Therefore, we are calling on all our governments, the international community and the United Nations not to suc cumb to Israel's intimidation. Governments need to fulfill their &lsquo ;responsibility to protect’ their own citizens. The threats against t he Flotilla are not just at sea, but also in our home countries, as Israeli agencies are targeting individual groups and personalities. Flotilla partn ers insist that their governments take preemptive action to assure that Isr ael will not use force to interfere with this peaceful international effort to secure Palestinian human rights, human dignity and humanitarian assista nce.

On May 10, Freedom Flotilla 2 partners will go to the Eur opean Parliament for meetings with MEPs as well as the United Nations and o ther international bodies, and to present Freedom Flotilla 2 and its goals. In addition to the partner organizations, there will also be participants from more than 50 countries on board the ships. This past week the European Jews for a Just Peace announced that they will join the Flotilla as a dele gation and in sending humanitarian assistance to Gaza.

We are putting Israel on notice...
We are coming
We are unarmed
We are civilians
You have no right to threaten us
We expect to reach Gaza without any interference.

Athènes – Le comité d’organisation de la Flottille de la liberté 2 s’est réuni à Athènes les 9 et 10 avril pour co ntinuer les préparatifs de la prochaine flottille. Depuis la derni&e grave;re réunion à Amsterdam, Israël a lancé une campagne internationale d’incitation contre la Flottille et ses memb res de coalition qui y participent de partout dans le monde.
Le Bateau grec pour Gaza, qui était l&rs quo;hôte de cette réunion internationale, a dénonc&eacu te; l’inaction du gouvernement grec, devant le refus israélien de libérer les deux bateaux grecs détournés dans les eaux internationales et retenus en Israël depuis le 31 mai 2010. Le Ba teau grec pour Gaza s’est pli é à tous les contrôles exigé s par Israël afin de rapatrier ses bateaux, mais nos efforts ont &eacu te;té sans succès. Le gouvernement grec aurait dû faire pression sur Israël pour qu’il relâche immédiateme nt les bateaux, comme il l’a fait pour les turcs par Israël d&eg rave;s août 2010.

Maintenant , à la veille du départ de la Flottille de la liberté 2, le gouvernement israélien menace à nouveau de nous attaqu er. Tout comme l’année dernière avant la premièr e Flottille de la liberté, les responsables israéliens s&rsqu o;efforcent de faire naître un climat d’hostilité qui ne laisse aucun doute sur leurs intentions d’attaquer ill&eacut e;galement cette flottille civile.

Par conséquent, nous demandons à tous les gouvernem ents, à la communauté internationale et aux Nations Unies de ne pas céder à l’intimidation israélienne. Les g ouvernements ont le devoir de protéger leurs propres citoyens. En pl us de nous menancer d’attaques en mer, les services de sécurit é israéliens ciblent actuellement les groupes et les individu s actifs au sein de la Flottille dans nos pays d’origine. Les partena ires de la flottille insistent donc pour que leurs gouvernements respectifs prennent les mesures préventives nécessaires afin de s’assurer qu’Israël n’utilisera pas la force contre un effort multinationales pacifique destiné à la pr otection des droits humains palestiniens, de la dignité humaine et d e l’aide humanitaire.

Le 10 ma i, les partenaires de la Flottille de la liberté 2 se rendront au Parlement européen pour rencontrer des Déput&e acute;s européens ainsi qu’avec des représentants des < strong>Nations Unies et d’autres organismes internationaux a fin de présenter la Flottille de la liberté 2 et ses objectif s. En plus des organisations partenaires, des participants de plus de 50 pa ys seront également à bord des bateaux. La semaine pass&eacut e;e, le groupe « Juifs européens pour une paix ju ste » a annoncé qu’il  se joindra &ag rave; la Flottille en tant que délégation pour envoyer de l& rsquo;aide humanitaire vers Gaza.
